Mystery Engine Help Please
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone recognized what this engine might be. Don't seem to be able to find much casting info on it. Told it is pre 1921. Not sure if car, bike, tractor, or stationary etc.
Have been told a gentleman made his own car in 1921, then years later used the engine as a generator. Here in Canada
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

By sheer coincidence, just this evening we had an interesting talk at our car club about Maudslay Cars and other vehicles and their family of engineers. The speaker had arranged for a Standard car to be on stage because of the connection. The engine in that 1926 Standard was very similar - slight difference with the oil supply to the tappets but I would agree with Andy Watt that this is the make of the engine.

With the exposed valve gear and design I'm pretty sure it's made by the Standard Motor Company. As to age and hp I'm sure the Standard Car Club would assist.
