Until the 1960's one of the most familiar cars on the roads must have been the Austin Seven as between 1922 and 1939 it was built in large numbers. Even today many have survived and are restored as originals or specials. They are rallied, raced, trialed or otherwise cherished. Several hundred Sevens are expected to turn up on July 1st at Beaulieu, Hampshire, where the 750 Motor Club will be celebrating fifty continuous years of its inaugural rally.
And while on the subject of Sevens, David Knight, the former shop manager at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, would like to know if his late brothers Seven still exists. It was a distinctive car painted yellow and nick-named "Primrose". Built in 1929 this chummy tourer was registered UV 6464. The car became famous in Royal Marine circles as one day "Primrose" was taken to dinner, up the steps of the Officers Mess and put on the dining table. Just the thing you can do with a Seven, but has it survived the ordeal?
See you there!
