Olympic Merchandising (UPDATE II: more torches)

We’re sure that it will not have escaped your attention that today -08/08/08- the Olympic games start in Beijing, China. The Games are not only about sports, but also about merchandising. This year is no exception as there is plenty to choose from. However, it is nothing new. Eighty years ago the Olympic Games were held in Amsterdam and on that occasion this beautiful mascot was issued from a young lady carrying the Olympic torch. We have no idea who made it/her, but the company must have been in business for quite a while, as another one was issued for the Los Angeles Games in 1932. Can you tell more about these mascots? Contact us

Update II comes from Heinzgerd Schott who wrote: "Sorry! I can`t give more information on the mascot. But I was very surprised to see just this young lady today just here. It is more than ten years ago I met her in Essen (Germany) at the Techno Classica exhibition. She captured my heart and from that day she is mine. I never knew she was a merchandising object of the 1928 Olympic Games Amsterdam and I´m very interested to hear more about her. She is my faithful companion on top of my Buick Standard Six (1926) radiator."
Update I: Paul Linster found this torch and this one on Mascotmania.
