A few years ago we wrote a review of ‘Fuerza Libre’, a book about Argentinian racing history that contains wonderful period photos. For instance the one shown here of Martín Alzaga Unzué with his Ballot 2LS taken in Buenos Aires in 1923. But it’s not only the magnificent racing car that attracted our attention, it was a small detail behind Martín's back. If you look closely, you’ll notice that there’s a mascot of a devil mounted on the tail. Not only that, the little devil is cooking its snoot at the cars that have just been overtaken. Too bad we don’t have a clearer picture of Martín’s devil, but it could very well be the one shown here. Note that it has one foot and one hoof!
