One for the ladies !

Longstone Tyres recently has received serious comments and complaints regarding the explicit advertising they have been following. Making use of vintage - sometimes risque - pictures showing young ladies working at their cars while not properly dressed for the occasion. Three points have come up in the complaints by the ladies:
1.  Longstone wouldn't do any advertising with scantilly clad man in it.
2.  it is sexist only to show ladies working with tyres
3.  ladies are being misused as sex symbols
As Longstone  values its customers high - no matter their gender - they decided to give in and had a chilly photo shoot yesterday morning hoping to address the various issues brought up. If there is enough interest Longstone is considering to print new posters and calendars on the new subject. Please add your comments freely. Our femal readers had the same comment (why all tire models in the ads etc. are female, not male, as women nowadays also buy tires)so we made this blog (http://autoband.tv/fred-with-tires-models/) to catch up a little bit! So ladies ...

(Editor: Nice blog! Interested to hear how you got permission to use the very expensive photo's of Herb Ritts, see http://www.herbritts.com/)

I have enjoyed the adverts with scantily clad ladies but has it made me buy Longstone tyres?

What a wonderful way to justify the original ads, I know which I would rather see and to those who object just avert your gaze.

As a woman I don’t take offense to Longstone Tyres ads. Perhaps it's because we live in world where soft pornography can be found in a hamburger commercial…but I really don’t find the ads that raunchy or sexist. I have always viewed images of this nature with ‘historical travel goggles’ not 2013 frames.
I never assumed that Longstone Tyre advises changing tyres in my stockings, or actually using a tyre-iron (which in my experience are just used to weight the trunk), but that they are just automotive enthusiasts like myself, and enjoy multiple aspects of the autoworld i.e. history, beautiful women, and of course tyres! I have purchased tyres from Longstone, and I can tell from my personal experience that the owner and his staff LOVE all things period correct and historical. If we want to point the sexist finger; let’s start with contemporary tool companies Snap-on calendar anyone??

What's the employee doing with his hands? Oh man.

editor: now what would a worker at a classic tyre company do with his hands in a tyre? Checking the valve of a tube of course...

I was astounded when I saw the advert, and it will take more than a purile photoshoot to change my opinion that Longstone are just sexist.

Why would anyone wish to change a long tradition that values all that is good in the world!

With all respect, Longstone Tyres highly misled their customers with this poster: they use a spare tyre which doesn't seem to fit any of the two cars. Far too wide! :)

Dougal, here's a tip; stick with the ladies. I promise you that despite the flack, it's where the smart money is.

I know I prefer the women in the ads! Looking at this lot it would make me buy Chinese tyres!

Well, the first "thing" I looked at were the cars and not the models. And then wondered if the guy on the right was hiding any"thing", its a strange way to hold a tyre.
You did say to add comments freely, that could mean any"thing". Cheers Harit
