In 1966 John Hearne (NZ) bought a collection of car brochures in Auckland. Among these was this original Spyker brochure. Yet brochure may not be the right word. It is a handmade prospectus for a client who probably was very far in the proces of bying a costly Spyker car. The document is approx. 12" x 9" with a hard grey cardboard cover. The lettering is imbossed in red. There is a cord holding all the pages together. Back in September 1921 a L. Andrew Esq. Of 8, Beatice Rd, Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand received this brochure from the factory relating to the six cylinder 30-40 h.p. "Spyker" car. Maybe not the most beautiful but in deed the most important part of the 'brochure'is a six page typed letter by the Managing Director of the Spyker factory explaining the various costs involved and they total around the 2,000 pound mark! Then there is another letter headed page with testimonials and a picture of a 30/40 HP touring model. Finally there are no less than seven original clear, sharp photographs tipped onto brown background paper each with an embossed Spyker badge in red (see saloon).
