This is a 1902 scene in Petrograd (St. Petersburg before 1914 and now again). We see the trade house Pobeda (eventually one of Russia's greater car makes). In that time they were selling primarily bicycles. But this changed rapidly. Click the photo to see the street corner in 1912 while a SCAT tourer is passing... Researcher Stanislav Kiriletz has a fine collection of vintage photos of that item and is studying the presence in Russia of Italian car makes like SCAT and Aquila. Please let us know if you have car photos from Russia in that time. In those days Petrograd was a far from boring place for the automotive interested. Just an example, ever heard of the two wheeled (!) Schilovski Gyrocar that was balancing like a bicycle with the aid of a large gyroscope?
