Prologue of a British summer

Sunday 13th May 2007 Wiscombe Hillclimb
The British never fail to deliver on the weather - and this meeting was no exception. Rods of rain fell from the sky as the cars and their owners, including an amazing turn-out of 15 ERA's wondered if their motors could transform James-Bond-like into amphibious vehicles in order to climb the hill . As people huddled under Gazebos ('party tents') looking like drowned rats, the meeting was almost brought to a halt before the skies cleared to allow for the competition to commence. Unfortunately, many competitors had given up and left, but for those who stayed they enjoyed up to three runs of this quintessentially English hill-climb with the fastest time of the day going to Jonathon Cobb (grandson of The Cobb?) in his Fraser Nash doing the ultrawet 900m course in 53.33 seconds.
