Call for Girls & Cars for the 2011 calendar. (Update: lady owners)

Today we start preparations for the 2011 edition of “Proper Cars, True Ladies”. You are most welcome to send us a photo of your girlfriend, wife, mistress, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, daughter or any other lovely girl as long she is in the company of a proper motorcar. Just one limit, she must be old enough to have a driver’s license. You must have made the photo yourselves or at least have permission to have it published by us. If you want to participate, please send your photo, or photos(!) to [email protected]. Please do tell us who the photographer is, the first name of the girl and the make and model of the car. If your photo will be part of the calendar, we'll let you know before November 1st and you will get one calendar delivered free at home.

P.S. Jul writes also that she needs a transport for her VW buggy from Hamburg to France (near Chateauroux) were it will be restored.

Please read  JHWebber's remarks below and send us your opinion in this matter.

Please, is it not an issue of form and function? Both are pleasing to the eye and they complete our lives on and off the roadway.

Why dont all you stuck up idiots get of you high horses and listen to yourselves. I have never heard such rubbish. As if this could be sexist and that is a pathetic word in it self. What possible harm can it do to have pictures of women with cars. If it be their own cars or those owned by their millionare husbands. It is a free world so if you dont like the idea of the callander then dont sent any photos in. If you do like it, then send them. Topless would be better. I think it isn't sexest at all just to put a woman next to a car and make a nice photo. That she is the owner or the co-driver of the male owner is totally not relevant. Last night I went to the garage with my 16 year old daughter and we made a small tour and after that make some shots for a tasteful calender: nothing wrong with that at all and like I said: who gives a damn if she owns the car or not...having fun with the car is more important :-)

Well, I have to agree with JHWEbber, guys. It simply has not crossed your mind that quite a number of ladies own and run old cars. The text you put up rather smacks of the iudea that one needs to round up a girl, tie her to the car, shoot her and then let her go and do these womenlike things that are important to them, i.e. trying on hats or talks to another woman on the telephone.
Having said that, it is one of the reasons I enjoy old copies of MotorSport and Autocar with all these politically incorrect ads. Hower those mags and you are obviously a bit behind the times..

I am amazed at the sexest nature of this! The automatic assumption that no girls/women can own a car of their own! You list all those who's photo can be sent in but not the actual owners! Wake up to the modern world. I've even heard that the little women owned cars pre-war too. My wife and I share our pre-war Austin and my daughter will be driving him too and he has owned by a lady for most of his life so far.

editor: With all respect JHWebber, which are the words in the above text that made you write this? Our request, our call is aimed at man that make photos. For the simple reason that this page is by far mostly read by man.
