Did we hear any grumbling there are no serious rallies for 'post Brighton' cars? Listen. Within a few weeks it will be one-hundred-years ago that the most gruesome rally ever started: the 1908 NEW YORK to PARIS.
For those not familiar with the route: crank your car at Times Square, then warm your engine on the 5000 unpaved East-West miles across the US, then take a sharp turn right up Alaska only to find out that the road to the Bering Street is fully blocked. Make the U turn and race back to San Francisco, find a ship to Japan and a ferry to the mainland - yes you're still in 1908 - then continue to Wladivostok, Siberia. From there it's a jiffy to the Paris Eiffel Tower as probably most of you know... So what can stop you to take your Ford, Rolls, Hisso, Merc or La France and sign up for the drive of a lifetime. One of the last great adventures. Your wife can't object, it's only 65 days. It can't be the age of your car, a 1904 Thomas Flyer will participate as well. Now when money is the problem tell your sponsor leads that you have a very good chance that PreWarCar (over 75,000 absolute unique visitors/one million page views per month *) will open A SPECIAL NEWS PAGE for the duration of the event specifically FOR YOUR CAR. PreWarCar is offering this special photo and video report page for ONE late entree pre 1945 car and for ONE late entree postwar car. Plus of course a NY-Paris PreWarCar outfit. Now the best thing to do first is to have a chat with our friend Bill Ewing, CEO of the event (tel. +1 714 338 8882). Ask him what's the status of the last open places and tell him we told you or contact PreWarCar . Maybe before doing so, check the 2008 Route.
