The only Duesenberg your editor ever owned (and lost) was a scale model (derekcooper.co.uk) by Monogram. Most Duesy's stay in North America and that's a shame, they don't need them all! We just see so rarely one of these cars here in Europe. The word 'imposing' is an understatement when you see a Duesy 'live'. Two superb examples will be auctioned by RM at Meadow Brook Hall, August 6. One in particular is drawing our attention. It’s the 1930 Model J (# J 194). According to RM Auctions J194 was sold new by Duesenberg’s New York City factory branch in August of 1929 to William Durant Campbell. After several owners it became the property of a gentleman by the name of Ray Wolff, who began the restoration process. The late Ray Wolff is a former president of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club and a noted Duesenberg historian. He was one of the first automotive historians who realized that proper documentation could enhance the value of a motor car. Ray Wolff died in 1991. His obituary (by today's Duesenberg historian Fred Roe) was published in the Journal of the Society of Automotive Historians. (photo courtesy RM Auctions)
