The beautiful grounds of Paleis Het Loo in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands are also this year be the place for the Concours d`élégance organized by Classic Events.
The palace was for more than 300 years the place where the Dutch royal family lived and worked. But since 1984 the palace is open to the public. A lot of attention is given to the detail and the design of the gardens, which belong to one of the most beautiful ones in Europe. The horse stables and coach houses including a collection of carriages, (pre-war) cars and sledges are very well maintained. From my own experience, I can tell you it is definitely worth having a look. This year for the first time there will also be cars on display at the stable square.
Another first is that the event this year will last three days, from the 29th of June until the 1st of July 2018. Where the program was in previous years spread over two days. This extra day, the Friday will be fully dedicated to the 911 Porsche (also for our PostWarClassic fans).
Of course, the first weekend of July it is all about the 14th international concourse, whereby the cars will be judged on various points by a professional international jury made up of classic car experts, journalists and designers. The pre-war (and post-war) cars will pose stately and gleam in the sunshine in this wonderful surrounding. All the owners have put in many hours, every single one of them would really like to win that one coveted first prize in his or her class. Last year`s best of show prize was won by Ton Meijer with his 1933 Lancia Astura series 2 special Castagna.
The organisation told us there is only one key objective; to showcase the very finest classic automobiles in existence. But what cars can we expect on display this year?
In the category Special Coachwork (pre-war): our eyes caught this Packard Dual Cowl Sports Phaeton 5000 CC's. And what do you think of this freshly restored Bugatti Stelvio? Last weekend during the National Oldtimer day Lelystad, in the Netherlands the car made its debut. Which was very successful, as the car won the first price in its class.

In the Preservation Class (pre-war), so far there are three participants: Andre Schoenmakers with his BMW 327, Jan de Boer with his Chalmers 35-C and Andries Jans with his Bugatti Type 57 Stelvio. Looking at the photographs, if you would be one of the judges, which one of those three would go home with the first price? Please comment below.

Obviously, there is much more to see, among which: various importers present their latest models. Members of the DVSCC (Dutch Vintage Sports Car Club) will show their pre-war car in action during the sprint on the Koningslaan. A real spectacle and really good fun to participate I can tell you. Four pedal car races are organised for children from the age of four until eight. You can sign up at the event site at the registration desk at the Middellaan. If you are the proud owner of a Classic car from before 1978 and bring it to the event you can park your car free of charge at the classic car park. This way we can create a “mobile” car museum, which is also a part of the official event program. At the Royal Fair, a wide selection of luxury products including jewellery and art are for sale. And for a drink or a bite to eat, there is a colourful selection of very suitable classic food trucks available for all your desired refreshments.
We from PreWarCar.com and PostWarClassic.com will also be there. What can you expect from us? We will have a stand with our own working horses a very original Ford Model TT and a post-war VW T1 on display. Of course, there is during all three days the entire day the opportunity to meet (part of) "the team”. You can ask questions about anything really or collect a brand-new PreWarCar.com (or PostWarClassic.com) sticker for your (peddle) car. One of us will also take place in the sprint. PreWarCar.com in action! It is also possible to see the impressive 1899 Amedee Bollee, that we used in the Paris-Amsterdam revival, of which you can read here.

It promises to be a wonderful weekend for car enthusiasts of every age and the rest of the family. If you like to dress up, period dress is preferred. Click here for more information about the event or to order your tickets in advance.
