Safety Last

Safety Fast! is the slogan of MG. However, when Capt. George Eyston published his autobiography he choose as title Safety Last. Not unfitting, as the now very rare book primarily deals with his experiences while trying to capture several Speed Records, first with MG’s EX 127 and Humbug, but also with Thunderbolt (click main pic) and Speed of the Wind. But of course he was also famous as coach of the all-girl MG Le Mans racing team, soon nicknamed Eyston’s Dancing Daughters. The autobiography was published in 1975 and there was a special edition of 750 numbered and signed copies in a deluxe gilt-edged leather binding. We are fortunate to own number 316/750, but have never seen another until we saw Bonhams Catalogue for their Auction at the RAF Museum in Hendon on April 11th. Check lot 7!
