Search for stolen 1936 Chevrolet

Letters to the Editor

I own a 1936 Chevrolet FC Roadster, right-hand drive, bright red, a very rare Australian import. This is a very sentimental car and my pride and joy. To cut to the chase, it needed some light restoration, so after a great amount of research and feedback, it was taken to a business in Hailsham, East Sussex, which seemed genuine and was known to the Mustang Club. I delivered the car to the business's premises.

I am in the car trade myself, with my own workshop plus car sales. Various monies were sent, and Vintage Tyres of Beaulieu sent four new tyres; in total, £5,000-plus was sent. This was in the middle of 2021. Contact was regular and progress was happening. However, roll on December, 2022: I damaged my 'phone and lost all my contacts, so looked up the business on Google for the 'phone number and to my total shock and horror, various anxious car owners were all on there saying the same thing: "Where's my car?" This business disappeared with 25 American classics, one being mine. Police were informed.

I have written to the police many times, employed an investigating firm and even my own solicitor, but found nothing. Twenty-five classics can't just disappear. Please can you help? I'm offering a substantial reward for the return of this car, which my late father and I bought. It is a 1936 Chevrolet two-door convertible (suicide doors), bright red, with wire wheels and black hood, registration RSU 793. I wait in hope for further information.
