There is some serious machinery to be sold by Bonhams in their Motoring Auctionon the 25th of July.

First of all, this 1928 Bentley 4½-Litre Tourer. It is one of 657 built on the 10' 10½" chassis and was originally bodied as a saloon by Gurney Nutting. During long-term ownership (1964-1996) in Scandinavia, the Bentley was restored and re-bodied in the style of Vanden Plas by Simmons of Mayfair. An extensive history file shows that the car has always been well maintained, with no expense spared. The engine has been rebuilt with a new Phoenix crankshaft and con-rods. Besides this, the car is equipped with a brake servo and overdrive for comfortable long-distance touring.

And have a look at this large 1936 Alvis 4.3-Litre SA. An elegant four-seater drophead coupé. Believed to be the only survivor (of 16) with coachwork by Offord & Sons Ltd of London. A very rare and highly desirable British thoroughbred.

Also on offer is this powerful V12 Lagonda. The saloon was registered just before the outbreak of the Second World War and comes with full history. If you look closely, you will see that the black coachwork is lined in red. Perfectly matching the red interior.

Something totally different is this fully operational and running 1914 Peugeot Bebe, designed by Ettore Bugatti. And what do you think of this 1937 Cord 812 Supercharged Westchester Sedan with its distinctive ground-breaking design?
