Shall we talk about the price, or roll the dice?

Today is World Poetry Day, that is the reason we do it this way.

I have seen advertised a car, that breaks all records by far. Not one for my bookshelf, a PreWarCar I can drive myself.

I contact the seller, to ask how many miles there are on the teller. But also to inquire about the state and how much it weight. Now I have all the information, the car has been in the family for more than one generation. I am going to take my wife out for a test drive. And guess... that was a great success! She found it fantastic, and is so enthusiastic!

Alright mate, let`s negotiate… Shall we talk about the price, or roll the dice? Deal! I cannot wait to get behind the wheel! Drive many more miles, I might even participate in a couple of trails.

The car definitely has gone to a good home, my wife will polish the chrome! Thank you for everything my friend, I am very pleased about how it all went. Now I can start looking for my next event.

OK, as I just learned, it is "World Poetry Day", a little text about the Vintage Revival at Montlhery. You may try to sing it on the melody of "Hotel California" by the Eagles:

On a dark deserted race track
Cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of burning Yacco
Rising up through the air
Up ahead on the banked curve
I saw a shimmering light
The sound was heavy and my eyes grew up
That´s what I dreamed ´bout all night
Bugattis stood on the kerbside
I heard some engines yell
I was thinking to myself
This must be heaven no this can´t be hell
She cranked it with a handle
and showed her engine the way
Engine voices from the manifold
I thought I heard them say

Welcome to the Autodrome-Montlhery
Such a lovely place
(such a lovely place)
Full of glory and pace
Plenty of vintage cars we enjoy at Linas
Every second year
(why not every year)
You can find them here

My mind is heavily twisted
So many Mercedes Benz,
We meet a lot of pretty motorbikes and so many friends
The Cycles dance on the race track and their drivers sweat
We do this to remember
And not to forget

A little break by the banked curve
Enjoying cheese, wine and more
Someone said
We have this special spirit here since 1924
And still some engines are calling from far away
You´d get up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say

Welcome to the Autodrome-Montlhery
Such a lovely place
(such a lovely place)
Filled with glory and pace
Plenty of prewar cars we enjoy at Linas
Every second year
(why not every year)
You can find them here

Aero-Engines in their chassis
With torque from outer space
Someone said
We are all just admirers here of those old devices
Coming from different countries
We gather for the feast
Huntinghorn-exhausts blowing to attack, but they can't kill Duncan´s beast

Last thing I remember when we were on our way home
I had to find my way back to real life and started to moan
Relax said my wife then - just two years till next time
Two long years, but I promise you, it will be more than fine…

Enjoy the day,
Hubertus

There once was a man from Boston
who bought himself a new Austin
There was room for his ass
and a gallon of gas
But his balls hung out
and he lost 'em.
