Solex question Fiat 500 Topolino

Letter to the editor

I have a 1937 Fiat 500 Topolino which has a Solex 22DH carburettor, although the specification lists the carburettor as 22HD, is this difference important?

Hope someone can give me some advice.
Thanks. Michael Rees

Ik heb een 22 DH op mijn Topolino zijklepper van 1939 en hij rijdt er uitstekend op. Geen problemen.

I also have the 22DH fitted to my Simca 5 (A) 1947 and have the same problem of running rich - so much so that it dies after a few hundred metres! I haven't had the car long and need to get it sorted. What is the adjustment screw on the manifold side of the carb?

HI. I'm looking for a carb for a 1937 topolino, but cannot find one. does anyone know where I can find one? There are plenty for the B & C models, but not for the side valve version. Weber or solex version will do.
Thanks. Les Humphreys

Many thanks for your help.

I needed to check as the the engine runs quite well but a bit rich, can't seem to get it any weaker, the jets in the carburettor are correct.

I can not help you with difference between 22DH and 22 HD
but according to my Solex doc's your Fiat 500 1937 should indeed have the 22DH
the Simca 5 ( french licence Fiat 500) used in 1937 also the 22 HD but in 1937 -1940 and the 22 DH in 1947-1949

so you have the right carburator , but the wrong specification for your 1937 Fiat 500 topolino
