Joy Ride: "When his boss is away, the chauffeur will play. And take his girl in the Auto."(Webster) Friend Keith Canouse sent this brilliant piece of sheet music with this flashy drawing. One thing is sure the driver must have been inspired by the American Underslung Roadster (clic to see the full automobile, just like the one Cave Creek Classics is offering at the moment. This is exactly the kind of car (delicate, elegant & impressive in a non-obtrusive way) what most Europeans can't imagine Americans ever made. The characteristic front axle (clic) would have made Ettore euphoric. No such technical daydreaming with the girl next to the driver of course. She dreamt "to get a ride in a benzine machine..' and begged: "Take me out for a joy ride, a girl ride, a boy ride...." Yes, our grandmothers and grandfathers had their ways too ;-) (lyrics by Ren.
