Talbot-Darracq. Famous owner, unknown driver? (Update: mid seventies & Nondus ?)

A charming mother and daughter driving off in a Talbot-Darracq is not an everyday picture. The rare motorcar is in Coys auction  'True Greats' next Tuesday, December 4. The 1922 Talbot-Darracq once belonged to Bill Boddy who, as we all know, was the founding editor of Motorsport magazine. It is true that Bill Boddy owned many automobiles in his lifetime, but this Talbot-Darracq has been in his family for more than sixty years! Together with Denis Jenkinson, Bill Boddy has used it in many sporting events. By the time the Talbot-Darracq began to look "rather shabby" it was taken off the road but, starting in 1973, it was over the years restored by Bill Boddy's son-in-law, who now offers it at Coys' auction. Anybody who can date the photo and identify mother and daughter.

The date of the photo, looking at the dress style is the mid 1970's. if that's correct then the driver could very well be Bill's daughter, Nondus.

Reading Bill Boddy's two-part article in the "Veteran & Vintage" c 1973 I suggest it must be relatives of Hal Hill, but he was reported to have two sons so with the deduction that the 2-piece replacement windscreen and the original combined side/head lamps must point to the second owners relatives a Mr Sangway. Interestingly the French Darracq concern who's offices were in London close to the Talbot works bought the Talbot company in 1920. The TD 8 and the Talbot 8/18 shared most parts( badge engineered ) as after the first 6 the TD were numbered odd and the Talbots were even, but few TD were produced and the later Talbots became the H8 model 8/18. I drive a 10/23 4 seater and 2 8/18s are nearing completion. John
