A teardrop in Louwman's eyes (UPDATE: Chapron and F&F)

If you’ve received our recent newsletter (*) you already know that we were present at the opening of the new Louwman Museum in Holland. This must be one of the most impressive  private collections in the world, almost all rare, unusual and many unrestored cars of which some 230 are shown on the three floors of the museum. On the first floor is an enormous collection of never before shown automobilia and automotive art, for instance one room is filled with the art of F. Gordon Grosby. But the cars are the stars. When asked which one of his collection he likes best, Evert Louwman said: “Surely the 1936 Talbot Lago T150 SS by Figoni & Falaschi. Just look at the shape, it brings teardrops in my eyes.” We agree, but the same can be said for the collection as a whole. And the line up of unrestored pre 1900 cars is unparalelled in the world. If you have the chance, go there!

(*) If you didn’t, be sure to subscribe now (see the column on the left).

UPDATE by editor RB: If you checked in earlier you would have seen a different main photo, not of the Teardrop coupé, but of a  T26 by Chapron. When touring the museum we were a bit overwhelmed and didn't realize that the plaquards of both cars had been exchanged!
