I went to Essen again, but was disappointed that it is really now just a huge car saleroom. Some fascinating cars though! I spotted TWO Arnolt Bristols, for example! The standard of many of the high priced cars was, in my view, often spoilt by poor detailing. I think it may have been the Bentley featured on yesterdays photo where the support for the starting handle was way out of line with the crank! Lots of obviously misaligned headlights & spotlights. Cross head screws in evidence on cars that were built long before Phillips came on the scene. Cars like one of the two (!) MG Salonette's (I think that is the right name) that despite a circa €100000 price tag had generic door handles, not the dainty MG logo'd ones (unlike the other one for sale at 50% more!) But amazing to see two under the same roof!
Rant over!I did enjoy the show
Once I had found - this time in a hall - not in the cellars or a corridor the "autojumble" - there were some very interesting parts on show. I even found someone who had a complete dashboard for a 1950's Delahaye! Anyone got just the oil pressure gauge..........
