The Massachusetts Benz Mystery (UPDATE VI: White movie star?)

Hey "Look what I found", writes Tom Laferriere and sends a set of photos showing this awesome looking brass era Speedster hiding in the right location. The radiator reads Benz, so wow, this must be the find of this still young century! Yet, we know that we can't deceive you prewar experts for long. What in fact did Tom find? And maybe if you are truly into this, what may have been the exact purpose of this neat looking piece of machinery? ( photos courtesy Tom Laferriere )

Nice find Tom,
The radiator looks a lot like my White speedster Rad though much older. The Benz name plate looks like it was added on...Brass colors do not match perfect though a nice job !
The hood and hood latch are also a good clue.
The axle looks White and even the U bolts on the springs are the same as my 1928.
I definetely agree that it's a teens White truck turned into a speedster.
Guess I'm not the first one :)
Hey everybody watch my YouTube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlfUhO6M9ns

Looks like one of the cars from the movie "The Great Race". Need to look at the start of the race sequence. Think this one "lost it's engine".

Upon closer look see noticed shocks on sides of radiator indicating a commercial chassis also three spoke spider on steering wheel (a leftover steamer part no. used for a while) indicating an early truck. Cannot tell year of Whites by looks as they look same from 1909 into early twenties.

Well, Congrads to A great guy for finding something, though I agree with others as a White. CCBB is still one of my fav movies, I'm sure it wasn't in that, nor of course in Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines...(which had a wonderful array of brass motorcars...Anyway, it is still way cool, I wouldn't kick it out of my garage for having mouse droppings in the upholstery!
