This Bugatti T57 Atlantic was delivered to Jacques and Yvonne Holtzschuch late in 1936. It was black with a beige pigskin interior. It is seen here with madame Holtzschuch posing at the Juan de Pins Concours on Cap d'Antibes in 1937. The recent sale of a Type 57SC Bugatti Atlantic started a discussion how many Atlantics were built. Some said two, some said three. Actually there were four! Michael T. Lynch went to investigate. Read how the story unfolds in his article written for VeloceToday.

Update by editor RB: Bugatti experts tell us that this 57 is a creation/recreation of an automobile with a coachwork not by Bugatti but from another coachbuilder. After a serious accident the car was scrapped. It has now been “rebuilt“ using a newly made wooden body frame on a newly made chassis and parts from other T57’s. Therefore it’s not strange that Pebble Beach doesn’t allow this car to participate in the concours, but allows its entry only for display. Perhaps Pebble Beach should introduce a separate class for recreations?
