The getaway Ford.....

Paritosh Chauhan from India reports:"I am an avid vintage car restorer. During the pursuit of my passion I have come across cars in the strangest of places. Attached is an initial photograph of a Ford I found stuck in the village pond in a small village in the district of Kanpur (ex Cawnpore) in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. I picked up this car and here is the story how the car came to be parked in the village pond:

An inhabitant of the village was a Daroga ( police inspector ) in pre-independence ( pre 1947 ) India, he maintained his family in the village, on a visit home he turned with a new wife - the original wife chased the new couple , who fled in the Daroga's new car , in his haste the Daroga ran the car into the slush at village pond before making good his escape on foot. The car remained in the same location till discovered by us in 2005. Presently it is waiting renovation at our home... (photo by Paritosh Chauhan)
