The organiser's nightmare. (UPDATE: Jim Kruse's new shop)

Are you an indoor events organiser? Think of this nightmare scenario. Within a bigger show you have 10,000 square feet of extra space for high-end classic supercar show. With long hours and with the help of all your contacts and friends you have managed to get the finest of available cars in the house. A couple of Bugatti's (including an T57 Atalante 'Bureau Top Convertible'). Three of the very-very few surviving perfect 8 and 12 cylinder Tatra's. A handful of Rollses Phantom I and II. To top all that of you also managed to get five (!) 8C Alfa Romeo's. Plus ten Amilcars, ten nearly new Ferrari's and - ah we almost forgot to mention that briljant find, the 1948 4,5 litre, four OHC, twin compressor, 12 cylinder Alfa Romeo 'Varzi'. You did great! Everything is going as planned. Everybody is having a great time during first day, Friday. You fall asleep with a happy smile on your face. So did manager Rob Huppertz, organiser of the TopMobiel/Interclassics last Friday in the real world... but then - 3 AM Saturday - his phone rang: "FIRE in Hall West!" He must have jumped to the ceiling and trying not to get a heart attack by the very idea of... The good news is that he and his colleagues did their homework just perfect. During the night there was continuous surveillance by three men. So the guards were with the fire within 60 seconds. While the flames already licked three meter high above the kitchen they called 112 (Dutch for 911) and started emptying their extinguishers. At that moment the flames already went up three meters high through the tissue ceiling that was made of costly fire retarding material. Check the 21 feet hole. With the use of other materials disaster would have struck. Now the sad damage was limited to three or four luxury boutiques and a glass sculpture collection. Around breakfast all stand holders were contacted about the happenings and informed that Hall West would be cleaned and open to the public at 12,00 o'clock, only two hours later than normally. Most of the public probably has not noticed anything. A well-meant applause for the organisers! Great show. Great organisation. Great improvisation skills. Top !
