The Red Shadow Mystery (Upd. VI: 521 or 525?)

This photo of an intriguing boattail speedster was send to us by Lloyd (no surname given) from Australia. That’s also where the photo was taken, judging by the New South Wales license plate. The black plates with white numerals and the letters NSW vertically on the left were issued between 1924 until 1937 so that fits with date of the photo which is said to be around 1930. Lloyd knows that it’s a Fiat but was assured that it is not a 519. So what could it be then? Click the main photo for a better view. Below the photo was written the text "The Red Shadow". Maybe this rings a bell somewhere, somehow? All suggestions are welcome.

Fiat 521 or 525 ? It is very difficult question. Both car are very similar. But ratio radiator-headlamps says for typ 521.
This car is a first serie, year 1928-29, with sankey wheels and older headlamps.

Definitely not a 519. I would put my money on 521 or perhaps an early 525 circa 1929.

My guess would be FIAT 512. FIAT 519 has very distinctive lights with attached side lamps and larger brake drums

The 521 Berlina has an identical radiator and headlamps so I think we can concude that the Red Shadow is a 521, modified with smaller wheels.
