This lathe by motorcycle and (short-time) car manufacturer Eysink was built in the period 1898-1910. In that era more than one manufacturer spent their time making their own tools and used these over long stretches of time. The one shown here was in service with the Eysink factory up to 1950. Another factory used the equipment up to 1990. Reason for this long runway is that today we will be attending the speech of Drs. Vincent van der Vinne who will try to get his doctor's degree at the University of Nijmegen on the subject of the slow development of car mobility in The Netherlands over the period 1896-1939. More later. Now if lathes turn you on, you better not visit www.Lathes.co.uk. It will take you a fortnight to get out of that cutting edge swamp again. Have a great day.
