The Top 10 on the 10th

We know it is Friday and you are probably looking for a beautiful Friday Lady. But don`t be sad! This week`s Friday Lady moved to the Saturday. Tomorrow it is exactly 120 years ago that our ‘Long Distance Lady’ was born. Do you know whom we are talking about? Will be continued tomorrow...

We do have some women racing drivers today, whom you might have seen before in our online magazine. As it is the 10th of January, we give you an overview of the 10 most read articles in 2019:

On place number 10, 'Women who do men's jobs'. Ladies and things that go vrooom! Enjoy watching the wonderful black and white video of Women Racing Drivers.

In the article on place number 9 we discussed 'Modern (computer) technology and PreWarCars'. We asked you the question: to what extent can we use modern (computer) technology for our PreWarCars to keep our heritage on the road for future generations? A broad subject, where opinions diverge.

The '1000 Miglia 2019' brought many together. Maybe you were just like Jeroen and his crew, one of the very few to participate yourself. On the 21st of May, we showed you pictures of the event which we received from enthusiasts who travelled (all the way) to Italy to watch the spectacle and felt and smelled the Mille Miglia. But also the pictures Jeroen took exclusively from behind the scenes.

'The mighty 1903 Jennis' also made quite an impact on you guys. Everyone who has been to the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run knows that most participants struggle to get to Brighton and to climb up the hills. We reassure that this PreWarCar has enough power to make us all eat their dust. You might see the lucky new owner of this 50 HP 1903 Jennis fly by at Red Hill this year!

"They are very sensible boys," she argued, as the deal was completed" is what Mrs SV Hagley said. This is also the title of the amazing story of Richard Fewster and his Amilcar. An amusing story we can make a film about!

On place number 5 we have 'pictures of the 10th Beforty rally'. Put a couple of French, Dutch, British and Belgian people, born after 1979, in cars built before 1940. Give them some fantastic roads in Northern France, give them good food and lots and lots of drinks (after driving) and you know you have the perfect weekend! We can confirm this as we participated ourselves. If you are under the age of 40 and have a PreWarCar at your disposal, you can enter in this year's event!

In the article 'a project for every garage', we talked about three project cars. All of them did not make it to Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. When comparing the three, we took one critical thing into consideration, the size of your garage. In some cases, the word “car” might be a bit overrated. But we have definitely seen projects which needed a lot more imagination…

You guys seem to have enjoyed our reports of the various international events very much. On the 3rd place we have 'Vintage Revival Montlhéry 2019 in Pictures'. A description of the event "a crazy atmosphere, colourful characters, fratricidal struggles and passionate organizers!"

Unfortunately, there was also less good news you all have heard about. A participant in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run passed away in an accident involving a modern lorry and a 1903 Knox. This made us think. We started a discussion about the safety to drive old cars on public roads and how we can all help to make the presence of classic cars on the road safer for everyone.

We conclude with a joyful but also mysterious story. The most-read article of 2019 was 'the story behind the Belgian Bugatti barn finds'. It is about 10 years ago that we heard the myth of a couple of Bugatti's in a barn for the first time. Somewhere around Maastricht, on the border of The Netherlands and Belgium, a couple of Bugatti's were hidden in a barn for many years… Here you can read the full story and decide for yourself whether you think it is a true story…

We hope you liked today’s top 10. We pay a lot of attention to compiling the online magazine. Tell us what you would like to read in 2020 (or what you do not like about the magazine). Please keep sharing your pictures, videos and stories with us and other classic car enthusiasts. Maybe you have a question or you are trying to find a specific part or PreWarCar. You can always contact us by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. We are there for the classic car community!
