The Vintage Speed Trials 2021 - in pictures
The Vintage Speed Trials are a celebration of pre-war motorsport on the historic estate of Grimsthorpe Castle. The event took place last weekend and competitors, spectators and the organisers had an excellent day with a huge variety of fantastic cars and motorbikes ranging from Austin 7s to some very high-end machines.
The highlight of the event was almost certainly the ERA racer, given that ERA operated in Bourne, a town just a few miles from Grimsthorpe Castle. However, there were so many amazing and exotic cars to choose from, including a few Bugattis, an Amilcar, an Alfa Romeo, a Lancia, a Talbot Lago etc. There were just over 100 vehicles in total, with each driving the circuit three times.
The event was kept as authentic as possible, with straw bales for protection, fences made of hazel and miles of sisal rope. This, combined with passionate petrolheads and beautiful weather, made it a day to remember.
