Felice Bianchi Anderloni, who founded the Carrozzeria Touring (Negri.it), won the Coppa Milano-Sanremo in 1931, 1932 and 1933 in an Alfa Romeo 1750 GT (click photo for enlargement). This competition had its debut in the very beginnings of car racing. The first meeting was held in 1906 and like other difficult events was more a test of endurance than a sporting event. On Thursday March 10 competitors in the present-day Coppa Milano-Sanremo will start from the Italian city of Milan. The route follows the scenic Scoffera pass, down towards the magnificent coast around Portofino and then a dash along the Ligurian Riviera to the coastal city of Sanremo with its avenues of palm trees and charming atmosphere. Already many participants have entered this third revival of the historic Coppa Milano-Sanremo, but the organisers have assured us that there’s always room for some more pre-war cars.
