Two young ladies driving a 1904 Speedwell
Look at the tension on their faces! Isn`t it wonderful! These photographs were sent to us following a Monday mystery which we published on the 29th of January. To remind you, it was a small horsepower 1905 Speedwell.
On the first photograph, "you see my 1904 10 hp Speedwell deluxe (deluxe because of the 10 hp engine) being driven away to safety from my property by my granddaughters, Julia and Jacqui, on a catastrophic fire danger day in the Adelaide Hills. You will notice their appropriate attire," as described by one of our PreWarCar.com enthusiasts from Austrailia.
The second photograph shows a 1904 (model year 1905) 10 hp Speedwell owned in the mid-90s by George Strathdee, pictured, of Aberdeen.

This is a fine photo taken unfortunately in a difficult time of very young people driving a very old car. The good thing is that it shows they can do it. If there were more videos like this taken in happier times then fathers could show their children this could be done and enjoyed. I think this could be a very valuable first step in introducing the young ones to the enjoyment of old cars.

I recognised this red Speedwell in South Australia it used to belong to my uncle Des Carter and was kept at our home at Parkside so we had to polish it and get it going for all the events we also had the Cresmobile the second to oldest car in the state if not Australia
