A High Wheeler Mystery (update: 1909-1912 Chase)

Colin Balanescu recently found this picture in an antique store in Bucharest Romania. The photo has been taken at a 1930 parade. You can see the year "1888" painted at the front of the car but its significance is unknown. The car seems a contraption of Model T and a high wheeler. But maybe one of the readers can bring any light in this?

That car is not a model t ford because it has not got cap for the woter. Is not a car at all is a truck. Because the tow men in frant of the truck are hier than the ather 4!!!peopol in it. And the truck model is a Chase Motor Truck Company (1907-1919) only 12 years life so is rily hard to find abaut this truck-car.

The car is definitely a Chase, somewhere between 1909 and 1912. The windscreen, the doors and the closed running board don't seem to be standard and are probably later adaptations. Remains the question if it is an american or rumanian parade? A Chase in Rumania would seem to me to be a 'rara avis' ...

Sorry, none of the options proposed by Mr. Stuart Penketh is viable. I eliminated them one by one after doing my research. I saw several other pictures from that 1930 parade and it seemed to be a guilds parade. The car remains also a mystery.

It is not a Model T. Not 1888 either - it is either first decade 20th Century, or a later 'replica'.
It has visible chain or belt drive.

I suggest that this may be either, a National day parade, (1st December), or a celebration parade for King Carol who returned to the throne in 1930, (crowned king on 8th June) .
The 1888 sign on the vehicle, may refer to the Romanian Athenaeum, a building dedicated to art and science, (home of the Romanian Philarmonic Society), designed by the French Architect, Albert Galleron, which opened to the public, in 1888, (Construction started, and first concert 1886)

This looks a lot like a Chase, made by the Chase Motor Truck Company, Syracuse, New York.
