Weird Wednesday: The Silver Meteor

What do we know about Finland and Fins? That Flying Fins are the greatest rally drivers, yes, but that they could build Flying cars…, no, we didn’t know that. Yet that is exactly what Stig Fagerstedt did. He wanted a unique car, something wild and furious and with a Really Big engine! For starters he bought a Rolls-Royce Meteor engine that had powered a Swedish army tank. Without a clue of the chassis he was going to use, Stig then started on the bodywork of his 1920’s style boat-tail Speedster. Without drawings he fabricated mudguards, seats and mahogany floor boards. After a while he found a 1928 Cadillac chassis that would be perfect for his dream car. Having a genuine RR engine he reasoned his Speedster also deserved a traditional RR style radiator, so he made one from stainless steel. The Silver Meteor drives great and the sound of the huge V12 petrol engine is just awesome, but you do need to protect your ears!
