What happened to the 1937 SS100 DUV71
Anita sends this picture: "Curiously googling the history of DUV 71, as my mother travelled around Europe with a companion around 1948 in this Jaguar. The photo sits above my desk. Discovered it is back in the UK. Thought your readers might find this interesting."
Editor: Dear Anita, you are right, we found similar info, or at least that DUV71 was sold by Bonhams back in 2007. If you check that link you will see more B&W photos including the one that sits on your desk. The auction description mentions a first new owner in 1946, a Mr. R. Swarbrick (your mother's companion?). "It was taken on numerous continental holidays during his ownership, including a trip to Le Mans where it was timed at 98 mph on the Mulsanne Straight." Well the above photo obviously was shot in France with a 'boulangerie'and 'epicerie' in the background. What happened after 2007 is not known to us, but possibly he/she will turn up after reading this.

I purchased DUV 71 car from terry Larson and was a 20 year restoration i sold a SS90 to purchase the car in the states purchased unseen

It's wonderful to hear of Mr Swarbrick's drinking habits and that he lived a long life! I have a newspaper clipping of the girls heading to England via Esperance Bay on a ship. The girls in 1951 had saved 400 pounds each and were probably away for 2-3 years. Joyce Ireland was 22 from Richmond NSW - she just wanted to see the Tower of London and the crown jewels; Joan Jackson 23 of Strathfield NSW was looking forward to seeing relatives in Kent (Joan was the blond in the picnic picture); Hazel Roach 22 of Harbord NSW was determined to see Europe and Kathleen Walker 25 of Mosman "All I want to do is get there" (that's my mum and the one pushing DUV). I will have to read the letters she sent to her family to discover more information ... hopefully.

Bob Swarbrick who died recently drank with me in the Black Horse pub, Grimston, Leicestershire, every Sunday for many years, he told us many times of this trip and others he took with this car. His Daughter still lives in the village, she may still have his photos and scrapbooks.

Terry both were Australian girls!
My mother is pretending to push and I am guessing her friend Joan is taking the photograph.
I live in NSW.
I have a photo of the girls from a newspaper clipping - heading over to England on a ship.
I am away for 2 weeks however when I return I will open up the old suitcases filled with photos and articles and find those relevant to this trip.

Mr Swarbrick was lucky enough to have 2 young lady companions on his European trip in this SS100 one being an Australia girl.
Anita I would love to make contact to fill in some dates and details and I have some wonderful photos taken on this tour

A truly fascinating photo, also the other photos in the Bonhams file, picnic, etc.,
What makes this photo so interesting, is to know who the other 4 people are ?
Three pushing (or pretending to ?), and one photographing the occasion, since if this is 1948 , then it is possibly a Celebration after having won the Alpine Rally outright (congratulations indeed !)

I am researching the history of S100's and spent a few hours with Mr Swarbrick some years ago and have copies of all the photos he had taken of the car including the European trip. He spoke of the tour with your mother and another friend. I also have many other pics of the car throughout the years. Noting you live in Australia I would be keen to make contact.
