I have taken the trouble of emailling you beause I have to condense a very long story into a long story. I write so late in the day because I am surprised no one has told this story, it is contained in Micheal Ware's book 'Automobilies Lost and Found.'

The summary is this:

The car is a Pokora, built by Pokaora and Spol who were a dealership for French SCAP cars. This company was run by Mr Pokora. Sometime in the early 1930s a former Skoda employee called Otto von Smekal went into partnership with Mr Pokora to develop a synthetic fuel from tar, called the Delta process. Mr Pokora died in 1937, but von Smekal continued in partnership with Mrs Pokora

I have found a note that a Pokora & Spol car was offered for sale by Barrett-Jackson in 1992 and eight years later by Kruse auctioneers at Auburn where it sold for $80,000, but there is no further trace afterwards.

I know this is an old post, but I actually happened upon this car in a private collection and found this site trying to find more information about it. I'd be happy to speak with someone with PreWarCar about its current residence in exchange for some more information about the car.

I emailled your account with a full story. Clearly having just read your comments I find Ware is incorrect, the car was registered (perhaps not to Smekal as he supposes) in 1945, not 1938. Ian

The DVLA (UK vehicle registration) site shows that the date of first registration in the UK was 20 09 1945 and that the last date when it was taxed in the UK was 01 12 1983. So it was in the UK at least between these two dates. The colour is listed as red and the capacity 3499cc. There is no more useful information on the DVLA listing. I hope this helps. Mike Clark

The history of this car was covered by 'Motor Sport' as a result of a reader's letter. As I remember it was imported into the UK by a noble Czech lady who was a keen motorsport fan. Peruse the MS indices for Post War years. Regards, Rick.++++
