What me worry? (UPDATE: more anxious contestants)

Nice little photo of an attractive Fiat, isn’t it? Taken yesterday morning with the freshly fallen snow makes it an idyllic picture. But this same little Fiat will be one of the competitors at The 100 Miles of Amsterdam starting Sunday night with your editor Rutger Booy and artist Herman Morssink on board. And no, we’re certainly not getting nervous about the minus 8 degrees Celsius (17,6 Fahrenheit) and the heavy drifts of snow that the weather forecast is promising us. Why should we… the Fiat’s still on it’s first set of diagonal tires with some tread left, so there’s no risk of slippin’ and slidin’ into one of the canals surrounding Amsterdam. And the closed sedan plus the lack of torque gives us an edge over many of the other contestants who will be driving overpowered, open cars battling the arctic wind-chill factor. Only 100 miles? Piece of cake!

Update by editor: more final preparations. Hubert Kranz decided to add relevant equipment in view of the Amsterdam Alps. Theo and Juri Castricum are testing the Alvis in the rally area and Bas Jansen is honing his driving skills on The 5 Miles of Wesepe.
