Whatisit? Quiz # 285

Today’s quiz car comes from an advert in an old magazine. The name of the car sounds Dutch or Flemish, but it was made elsewhere. And this is not double-dutch. According to the advert it has a 4-cylinder 8/10 horsepower engine and it could be with either a magnet or batteries. The two-seater took its name from the manufacturer who began his motoring career on two wheels. Riding a Gladiator he won a major race in 1901. Automobile production started in 1906 with a 6.5 h.p. single-cylinder, but because of bore-restrictions imposed by Coupe de Voiturette regulations, he soon changed to multi-cylinders as there was no limit to the number of cylinders. His 8 h.p. engine of 1907 was said to be the smallest 4-cylinder in the world. Think you know what this cute little car is and want to win the infamous PreWarCar T-shirt? Then tell us the name and year by using the Contact Form. Do so before Monday October 11, but remember to check The Rules first. Enjoy your weekend!
