Who can come up with a new nickname?

Last time when we were discussing names, we were talking about people named after cars. As we all know, cars are quite often named after their inventor / maker. Last week, we received the following message from Jeff Perkins, who bought a lovely Ford model A. And would like a nickname for his new car. What do you think is a good one? Please come up with your best and inventive idea. The one Jeff chooses, will receive a PreWarCar.com badge!
Jeff's message: "Last spring we sadly sold our 1929 Ford Model A Cabriolet "Miss Daisy" after a long term ownership. Due to age, knees, sore backs etc. our friends could no longer climb into her rumble seat. We needed to provide easier access to our old car for friends to join us on further adventures, hence a Touring Car was deemed to be the next logical choice. Here it is, a 1930 Ford A Standard Touring Car (purchased today!) complete with a trunk to take all the necessary refreshment, extra clothing etc needed for a day's outing. We have no name yet for our noble steed, do you have any suggestions?"

We received an email from Jeff Perkins:
"So much fun reading the responses to our naming request for my newly purchased 1930 Ford Phaeton. Many interesting suggestions, some of which I found very creative. Since "Henry's Made a Lady Out of Lizzie" (the song) and "Henry's Lady" (the book) the Model A Ford had been thought of somewhat as a car a Lady could use and enjoy. I felt a more feminine name would be appropriate. Therefore I have decided that the name "Eleanor" would be a good choice. I may add "Lady" to Eleanor for a touch of elegance. Many thanks to all who responded and a special Thank You to reader Larry P."

Editor: Thank you all for this enjoyable day of reading. Larry, please send your address to [email protected] and we will send you the PreWarCar.com badge.

That is a very spiffy looking car with the cream wheels and white walls. Do you remember the term spiffy? This was used for someone or something dressed up special. I put forward the name Spiffy. I don't think anybody else would have that.

Perhaps Eleanor, in honor of Edsel Ford's wife. As Edsel is attributed with ensuring the Model A existed, it seems fitting to honor him and his wife.

My wife has chosen the names for our old bangers. She uses names of famous actresses from the era of the car's manufacture. We currently have Tallulah (Bankhead) and Claudette (Colbert). you may also consider Miss Clara as that was Henry Ford's wife.

Playwright Alfred Uhry's follow up to "Driving Miss Daisy" was "The last night of Ballyhoo".

Ballyhoo sounds like a pretty good name to me

How about 'HENRY'

A really beautiful car! Congratulations!

My first thoughts according to Daisy are of course "Daisy Duck" and the movie "Driving Miss Daisy".

So my suggestions are:
- "Gladstone" (Gladstone Ganter, the beau of Daisy Duck)
- "Hoke" (Morgan Freemans character-name as Miss Daisys chauffeur)

As your previous long-term companion was Miss Daisy and your new one is coming from the saame Ford family, I should call her Mrs Daisy, maintaining the link with your old friend and in the same time recognizing the passage of time.

For all the chain of events that have occurred in their touring lives, it has to be ......Daisy Chain.
