Michael Ware writes that after publishing a Back on the Road article in The Automobile on the recently restored 1914 Briton in the Black Country Living Museum in the West Midlands, the museum received an interesting letter from Kit Maxwell in New Zealand. He has a 1909 Briton, the restoration of which he has nearly completed. Kit goes on to say "My grandfather imported a car c1908 which had the Briton shaped radiator on a four passenger body, but with a Goodwin and Co Birmingham badge on the radiator. I have a picture of the car in 1909 in Dunedin, New Zealand (click main pic!). The family recall that at that time my grandfather imported two cars in wooden cases". The radiator of the Goodwin car survives to this day now owned by Bob Woodford. There is of course a very close tie up between Star and Briton and Kit has found reference to F.R. and H.G. Goodwin "undertaking racing for Star between 1903 and 1907". Can anyone enlighten us on the Goodwin car?
